Upcycle Tuesday! Travel in Eco Style

$30 Amazon.com
I love traveling but I am a terrible packer. Toiletries in ziplock  bags shoved in at the last minute sitting on the suitcase to close it yup that's how I roll! My daughter hates when I try to bring carry on because I fill it to the brim and struggle to put it in overhead luggage. I am completely inspired to turn over a GREEN leaf thanks to Lauren Conrad's new eco friendly travel acessories XOeco. Lauren worked with Repreve a recyclable material company that turns used plastic bottles into  recycled yarn. Expressing her concern for the environment Lauren said "There's so much buildup of garbage in our landfills and oceans and it's compromising our environment marine life and their habitats." To add the icing to the cake each product is labeled with the waste avoided, carbon footprint and the number of bottles used.
Yay! an Single Green Female making eco strides.

Must Have Monday....I'm so excited!

Today was a huge eco coup for me, I was just telling Jakob this morning we were running out of toiletries and I wanted to switch to all organic stuff. He of course sternly told me "that's fine but let's wait" because he doesn't want me to buy body wash for 10 euros. I agreed but through a gritted teeth smile....not a cute look! Fast forward to me returning from Modular (my favorite place in Berlin) and stopping in DM (Drug store in Berlin) and what do I find to my sheer and utter delight a whole line of uber I mean uber cheap organic products by Alverde. They have everything, face wash, body wash, lotion, shampoo, makeup toothpaste, I was in complete heaven!  I am trying the Vanilla and Mandarin body wash 1.45 euros and Rose Relax Body Oil 2.95 euros, actually once I'm done this post I'm going to make a trip back hehehehehe.

On the weekend I like to take the time to find eco-friendly blogs that are stylish fun and informative (I'm still on the hunt!) somehow through my blog meandering I found Goode Box, a green girl's dream come true!

When I decided to green my beauty regime I became overwhelmed by all that was out there and was not sure what was the best to use. Goode Box helps you with that problem, they are subscription based at $16/mth (like Birchbox or Glossy Box) and offer eco-friendly beauty products that are tailored to your age and skin type. Their box is curated by eco girls in the know and include great brands such as Dr Hauschka and Josie Maran Cosmetics. They step it up an eco notch by teaming up with TerraCycle. A program that allows you to return your non recyclable beauty packaging. Every unit that is collected Goode Box donates 2 cents to the Environmental Working Group. It only takes baby steps people!!!

Whenever I talk about beauty products I will introduce the DIRTY WORDS you find in Non Eco friendly products. I have found them via Green Beauty Team.

Like most dirty words found on the back of your beauty products this one is a mouthful!

Diazolidinyl Urea and Imidazolidinyl Urea

This can be found in skin, body, hair products, antiperspirants and nail polish. They are formaldehyde-forming preservatives (ewwwww sounds like a science project with frogs!) which can cause joint pain, allergies, depression, headaches, chest pain, chronic fatigue, dizziness, insomnia and asthma. Is it just me or does this sound like one of those commercials with the list of hectic symptoms! Lastly it can also weaken your immune system and cause cancer.  There you have it a reason to switch to eco friendly beauty products!

Phew! sorry for the long post!

Frugal Fashionista Friday

Hi all! it's been a bit touch and go for me all day suffering from a fever chills sweats that sort of fun stuff! But I was determined to post today so I slept a lot and ate heaps of blueberries, rumor tells me they are high in antioxidants so I figured it couldn't hurt. Enough about me lets talk about what I wore Yay! my favorite.

I finally uploaded the photos from my trip to NY and some of the outfits I wore. The floral dress I bought in new york on 3rd Avenue at one of my favorite vintage shops it was $23 with 3/4 sleeves that I removed. I finished the look with a vintage belt that was a gift and my black vintage coach bag.

My best friend and her husband bought a new home in South Hampton I have been helping her decorate it via skype and seeing it in person my friend has done an amazing job. After visiting her home my daughter and I took the train to Montauk it was cheap as chips $2 or something and very relaxing. I wore my favorite vintage skirt I bought from Stella Luna in Toronto for a mere pittance $10. It has a beautiful deer print ( I call it my Bambi skirt) and matched perfectly with my bralette from Brandy Melville which was $19. I wore my brown sandals from Forever 21 and vintage fringe purse.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

The Best Vintage Wedding!

$185 The Get Up Vintage

$35 Anemone Clothing
$85 French Navy

$34 Jenny and Pearl

I'm sorry that this post is on a Thursday instead of Wednesday but my bloody computer was acting up again yesterday grrrrr and I could not wait another week to show you this beautiful vintage wedding, I found it on Miss Moss ( a new blog yay!) and the photos were taken by Lydia Jane Photography which are amazing you should check her site out.

The beautiful couple are Makenzie and Jamie and they were married on Makenzie's farm in Maryland. I have quite an obsession with vintage Edwardian dresses and Makenzie pulled her's off with out a hitch. Everything about this wedding screams vintage and beautiful, the bridesmaids dresses, the grooms western shirt, and the table decorations. My favorite picture is "Please Scrap your Plate here for the Chickens" ahhhh an eco girl after my own heart!

In case you are inspired by this beautiful wedding I have found some similar pieces on Etsy!

Upcycle Tuesday!

Finding a new blog is always a special treat and when I found out about the J Crew blog I was supper excited.  When I saw Behind the Seams a Short Story on their blog I became giddy with excitement and knew it was the perfect upcycle story.

J Crew is my go to depot for great clothes and accesories for my boyfriend ( just bought him a laptop bag for his birthday) and now I want to add these shorts to the list. Constructed from the canvas of vintage tent's these shorts are given a stamp of approval once complete. They are a limited edition so get them while they are hot!
