Monday Mother's Day Must Have List!

 Mother's Day is around the corner and the best way to celebrate is with an eco-friendly brunch and great eco-friendly gifts! Here is what I am lusting after and I am pretty sure many other mother will be as well.

When I saw this very stylish reusable coffee cup on the Leif Shop website I squealed with delight firstly I LOVE the colors, it's BPA-free, there is a little tab to avoid spillage and just think of all the trees that can be saved if everyone started carrying this to their local coffee shop. 

The next girls night out impress your friends with this eco-chic clutch from Eco Bohemia. It's perfect to hold your evening essentials aka eco-friendly lipstick, keys, phone but what makes it even more amazing, it's made from recycled ring pulls. I love the fact that it looks like over sized chain mail, can we say channeling Game of Thrones.....The Calise would be proud :)

Ok this one is a little expensive but hey, Mom's deserve a little splurge every now and then. I love these girls over at the Reformation their clothes are sustainable fashion that is drop dead gorgeous! They rework vintage clothes and use dead stock fabric sourced in America  to make their dresses all the while keeping everything local. These girls get my Single Green Female Stamp of approval!

Single Green Female Spotlight Sunday: How Does Your Garden Grow!

Garden season is upon us and who better to be Single Green Females first spotlight, then Annie Novak aka my green girl crush :) of Eagle Street Rooftop Farm. Located on East River with  an amazing view of Manhattan. Eagle Street Rooftop Farm is a 6000 square foot organic vegetable farm on a warehouse rooftop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Hello!! can we say green freakin goodness to the power of 100!! Not only do they sell the wonderful organic veggies they produce but they bicycle them to local restaurants. I am completely smitten and they are first on my list to visit this summer when I am back in New York!

Green Note: if you have a green thumb and your fire escape is not kickin it  for you! There are local gardens around the city and outer boroughs that you can volunteer at to satisfy your gardening needs including Eagle Street Rooftop Farm.

Frugal Fashionista Friday Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has finally sprung here in Berlin and it's time to break out the jean shorts and sundresses. Spring/Summer is my favorite time of the year firstly because it is warm and I looovvve the warmth (which all of my friends can attest to after hearing my grumblings through the winter) secondly your can wear the same summer dress or jean shorts summer after summer which means you wallet gets a break. If I do plan to add to my summer wardrobe I definitely start by trolling the vintage stores. They are filled with one of a kind goodies that let you shine all summer long!

Since the weather was so nice I am featuring two outfits that's how excited I am. Here's what I wore:

First Look
The oatmeal summer dress was a vintage purge from my friends closet (gotta love friends with great taste) the coach bag as I discussed in a previous post was found for $15 in Williamsburg sorry don't remember the name of the shop but will find out once I return to NY cuz it's awesome. The sweater is from the sale rack at Topshop originally $90 marked down to $30 the shoes are from Forever 21 for $17 they are perfect for accessories and fillers to you wardrobe.

Second Look
While I have been in Berlin the thrift shop Humana has become my new best friend they have surprised me with deal after deal. I found this 90's style half dress thingy for 6 euros, if my memory serves me correct I think they were layered over slip dresses. Well I layered it over a cute pair of Wrangeler high waist jean shorts I found for 7 euros. I love shopping at Urban Outfitter's but when I see vintage Levis high waist cutoffs for $60 I march myself  straight to my local goodwill and find them for wayyyyy cheaper. The shoes are from forever 21 and the fringe bag is a purge from my best friends closet love her!!!

Green Seams Thrusday Parlez- vous francais?

 Well you should! The line of clothing from Amour Vert  (which means green love in french...thank goodness I paid a little attention during french class) is amazing and the way they work green goodness into their fabric makes my heart tickled green. I mean recycled soda bottles who woulda thunk! They have this super cute Dawn Poncho made from 5 recycled soda bottles which is completely sold out! I am completely in lust with the Eve ikat print dress made from peace silk. A process they use to preserve the life of the silk worm while using a more complex but sustainable process to turn the cocoon into the fabulous silk dresses they sell. Thanks to their "learn about sustainable fabric" section you can also become educated on the many options out there for a green girl!

 It's been a while since I have done a post for Eco Wedding Wednesday and today I am featuring the main attraction at any wedding, the bride! Searching for the perfect wedding dress can be exhausting and very expensive and well not so green. As a green girl in love I have been secretly compiling my wedding dress lust list and am sharing them with you today. I really love the idea of a bohemian wedding with a crown of flowers and a veil trailing behind, so I guess my selection is a reflection of my style. Etsy is a treasure trove of beautiful dresses which is where I found these beauties. The price is nice as well and I know I sound like a broken record but its good for your wallet and good for the environment :)

Upcycle Tuesday!

Today's feature on Upcycyle Tuesday is a dress that I revamped for my Etsy shop. Whenever I vintage shop I always try to find a piece that can aline with today's trends and this dress which I like to call the Elaine dress (reminds me of the dress Elaine from Seinfeld use to wear) is something I have seen in Urban Outfitters for what I feel is a very expensive price. To update the dress I removed the sleeves and reshaped the neck to a v-shape and voila you have your sexy summer dress!

Green Note: Vintage shopping can be overwhelming for some the trick is to know what you are looking for when you shop ie: plaid grunge shirt and look for items that can aline with today's trends ie: upcycle the  plaid shirt with a peek a boo back. I love going to LF for ideas and inspiration than recreating the look at a more affordable price plus let's keep it real I'm doing what I love best saving the environment!
