Upcycle Tuesday It's in the Bag!

Downstairs from my apartment is a lovely clothing store with cute clothes and accessories. The other day I  walked past and saw this amazing Horse bag ( I'm horse obsessed). Upon closer inspection I knew that it was upcycled, the fabric looked like it had previously been a Mexican blanket, the handle was from a vintage purse and the horse was a vintage needlepoint ! I immediately searched for the price because I felt I needed it in my life but was a bit taken aback it was $760.00 Egad!!!! Luckily I found their website Totem and they have a wide selection of bags and furniture that they have salvaged and upcycled.
Hmmmmmm my birthday is in a few months!!!!

Garden Next Door so cute!!!

It was a very busy week for me last week but I am back and ready to rumble! This weekend my boyfriend and I visited his mother, they both hail from the small quaint town of Bamberg it an absolutely charming place I love it! I have generally visited during the colder months so I was pleasantly surprised to find, what I like to call the Secret Garden. I knew the garden was there but I did not know it was so big, my green thumb was twitching especially since the success of my garden (note to self have to post my blooming petunias they are gorgeous). I also had the pleasure of visiting their friends garden and stole a picture of the neighbours  adorable back yard.

So for my must have list this week I think the Urban Farm book would be perfect!

Green Note: I was just on the Free People blog and they had a post on How To Be A Natural Beauty by using some of your herbs such as Mint and Rosemary from your herb garden. I am so trying the lavender face steam with the lavender I picked from the garden!

United We Stand Plastic Bags We Ban!

In honor of California's ban on plastic bags I am dedicating this Monday's Must Have List to the tote bag!

I found this chic zig zag tote on my New York Times collection app, from the cute shop Hansel from Basel it is the perfect tote for groceries, the beach and picnics in the park.

A few months ago I found the website Apolis and I fell completely in love with their Market Tote. Hand made by artisan in Bangladesh, Apolis main goal is to empower people through opportunity.Love it!  An added bonus is they also partner with other shops to customize the market tote.

The FEED tote is an oldie but a goodie it helps to feed children around the world (even in the NYC!!) and they are constantly updating their bags. Hence my absolute lust for their very fashionable Guatemala Bag!

If you are feeling a little cheeky than $@#% Plastic is perfect tote for you!

Green Note When shopping for groceries with your new chic tote remember to be aware of the Dirty Dozen- fruits and veggies with the highest pesticide use aka:
apples
celery
strawberries
peaches
spinach
nectarines
grapes
sweet bell peppers
potatoes
blueberries
lettuce
kale/collard greens
BUY THEM ORGANIC :)

Frugal Fashionista Friday!

Sorry for the missing post yesterday my computer was giving me problems....I have a PC please don't judge!

The weather in Berlin has taken a serious nose dive but before it did this is what we wore. I wore a vintage romper which cost 16 euros, I hemmed it to a much cuter length plus it has the extra added bonus because it is backless. The purse was 5 euros and reminded me of a larger version I had in high school that I loved. My shoes are from Aldo on sale of course for $20.

Michaela in all of her not another picture Mom glory, wore a Forever 21 top which unfortunately I can't remember the price. The shorts are vintage wrangler jeans for 8 euros that I upcycled to shorts, her bag is from Brandy Melville for $30 and her sunglasses we found at the flea market for 3 euros.

Have a wonderful weekend :)
